FAQs

Mybirdwatcher was conceived first and foremost to provide a way for birders to have a better chance at seeing a variety of wild birds. It was formulated to connect both serious and amateur birders alike, and to give each member a better chance to see what's out there - whether it's a resident species in one's backyard, or a migratory species passing through one's city or town.

Mybirdwatcher's founders - two intermediate birders with backgrounds in Public Relations and Web Development respectively, came up with the idea for the site based on a true need for information about where to find wild birds and when. Tired of scrolling through pages and pages from up to four different listservs, and calling rare bird alerts only to find that the information was outdated, the team devised mybirdwatcher.

Their goal in creating this site is to have a place where birders can come together and share information with one another for the ultimate purpose of enjoying the sport and for the conservation of our feathered friends. Mybirdwatcher provides a single online source for managing your lists and keeping track of bird sightings across the US and Canada

About our logo- Under the Watchful Eye of the Red-shouldered Hawk

A Red-shouldered Hawk at twilight poised for the hunt patiently waits and watches. Seconds later, it swoops down, catching its meal, and exhibiting its unmatched strength and hunting prowess. Our logo is a rendition of a personal photograph taken of this magnificent bird.

Our logo hopes to convey to you the strength, beauty, and omnipresence that birds offer. We hope that mybirdwatcher gives you a bird's eye view of those species around you and what's happening in the world of birding. Through mybirdwatcher, we hope that you, like the Red-Shouldered Hawk, do not miss the goings on around you in the spectacular natural world.

Happy birding!
